About

In December 2008, Duncan Gillespie, Andrew Dalik and Graham Dalik were in Sydney, Australia with film director Philip Lyall. Lawn bowling had become a social phenomenon in Australia by then, picked up by the youth as a casual weekend activity dubbed ‘Barefoot Bowls’. Over an afternoon of beers and bowls at the Manly Bowling Club they decided to bring this incredibly fun experience back to Canada.

Phil had brought along a rough‐cut of his then yet‐to‐be-released documentary about Cystic Fibrosis, entitled 65_RedRoses. Featuring the remarkable story of our friend Eva Markvoort, the film left a lasting impression on all of us. The idea to create a lawn bowling Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser was hatched on the spot.
